PTCB recognition

What recognition means.

The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) reviews education programs against its standards and recognizes those that meet them. Advanced Pharmacy Academy is a PTCB-Recognized Education/Training Program.

The curriculum meets PTCB standards

Recognition means APA's program covers what PTCB expects a certified pharmacy technician to know, across all four PTCE knowledge domains.

Completion is a pathway to the PTCE

Completing a recognized program is one of the pathways PTCB accepts toward eligibility to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam.

Recognition is not certification

APA educates and prepares you and issues a Certificate of Completion. Only PTCB awards the CPhT credential, after you pass the PTCE. Your state board decides on licensing or registration.

Does APA certify me?

No. APA educates and prepares you. PTCB certifies you after you pass the PTCE.

How do I verify that APA is recognized?

Search for Advanced Pharmacy Academy in PTCB's public directory of recognized education/training programs. The directory is maintained by PTCB, not by us.

Is the exam fee included?

Yes. Your tuition includes one PTCE voucher, issued when you complete the program.

Where do I take the exam?

At a Pearson VUE testing center. PTCB's website lists locations and available dates.

Do I need certification to work?

It depends on your state and your employer. Most employers prefer or require it, and many states require it or accept it for registration.
